On 26 July 2017, more than 40 tenants joined us in Ashfield for our annual mid-winter celebration. It was a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, enjoy lunch together, and hear the latest Women's Housing Company news. It was the first celebration for new CEO, Debbie Georgopoulos, who spoke passionately about Women’s Housing Company’s achievements over the last 35 years. Debbie went on to share details of the forthcoming Women Staying Well initiative and was joined by new Community Engagement Coordinator, Fiona Forrest, in urging tenants to stay connected, and have their say in shaping services. Guests came up with a host of suggestions for getting involved including outings, digital learning, well-being classes and creative writing.
They were also keen to learn more about the role of the Tenant Advisory Group (TAG), which long term tenant, Dianna Kelly went on to talk about. As part of the celebration, guests were treated to a screening of the touching short film, Video Stories, put together by members of the TAG:
After a delicious meal, tenants enjoyed taking snaps of each other with party cameras. The afternoon came to a close with line dancing and a prize draw - congratulations to our winners Zareena, Milena and Wen Jing. Guests commented: “Great day! Am so glad I came… Food was amazing… Great to meet new ladies.” and “Really enjoyed myself. Food and company were great. Beautiful day. Thank you,” as they left clutching glamourous goodie bags generously donated by Marie Claire magazine.
A warm thank you to everyone who joined us, in helping make the day such a success.
